THe WELCOMe HoUR
Whether you like it shaken or stirred, dirty or dry, prefer olives to a twist, the Martini is perhaps the best-loved as well as most controversial cocktail ever. We prefer ours “Perfect”, made with gin and with lemon twists but as we are believers in the Attraction of Opposites, we’ll forgive the vodka and olive lovers. Here’s our recipe of choice for a classic cocktail that will surely impress your guests.
Making the
Perfect Martini
Ingredients
6cl good gin
1,5cl dry vermouth (e.g. Noilly Prat)
1,5cl sweet vermouth (e.g. Antica Formula)
ice
1 strip of lemon peel
Directions
In a mixing glass filled with ice cubes, measure in the required amounts of gin, dry and sweet vermouth. Stir for 30 seconds.
Strain into your chilled cocktail glass and twist the lemon peel over the top of the drink, then wipe it round the rim of the glass for an extra lemon hit and drop it in.
Serve immediately, by holding the stem. Repeat at your own risk.
